In This Policy
No Ads. Ever.
We do not run advertising on Second Chance Exchange. Your data is not used for ad targeting and is not sold to advertisers.
Minimal Collection
We collect only what is necessary to run the platform: account info, your listings, and basic server logs.
No Data Sales
Your personal information is never sold to third parties. Period.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your username, email address, and password (stored as a hashed value, never in plain text). Your display name and profile information are whatever you choose to provide.
Listing Content
When you post a listing, we store the title, description, photos, price, condition, location (city and state only), and all other fields you fill in. This information is publicly visible on the platform.
Forum Content
Threads and replies you post are stored and publicly visible. Your username is displayed with your content.
Usage Data
Our servers log standard web server data: IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used for security monitoring and basic analytics. We do not build behavioral profiles from this data.
Communications
If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry and for moderation records if relevant.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and maintain the platform
- To display your listings and profile to other users
- To send account-related emails (registration, password reset, listing notifications)
- To enforce our Terms of Service and Moderation Policy
- To respond to your support requests
- To monitor for security threats and abuse
- To send platform updates if you have opted in
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond running the platform.
3. What We Share
We share information only in these circumstances:
- With other users: Your listings, forum posts, and username are visible to all site visitors. Your email address is never displayed publicly.
- Service providers: We use Hostinger (hosting) and Cloudflare (CDN and security). They process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or valid legal process, we may disclose information to authorities.
- Safety: If we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm to a person or the platform.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
4. Cookies
We use cookies only for what is necessary to run the site:
- Session cookies: Keep you logged in between pages.
- Security cookies: Protect against CSRF attacks on forms.
- Preference cookies: Remember settings you have chosen.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Listings are retained for 6 months after being marked as sold, then deleted. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Forum posts may be retained anonymously for community record.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data upon request
- Correct inaccurate information in your account
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Opt out of non-essential communications
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

7. Children
Second Chance Exchange is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at admin@secondchance.exchange so we can remove it.
